COVID-19 Update

Saturday 21th March 2020

For all of our guests and site team

Golden Grove caravan site is committed to keeping all of our guests and site team safe, supported and informed. We are closely monitoring and following the latest government guidance.

As of today, (Saturday 21th March, 2020) our campsite currently remains open, giving you the chance to relax and enjoy the fresh air and wonderful open spaces they offer, while observing government guidance on social distancing.

However, If you are in a category the government deems most at risk from the spread of the virus, we would urge you not to visit us until the restrictions imposed by self-isolation are lifted.

Similarly, if you are showing symptoms of Coronavirus, please do not travel and follow the advice on the NHS website.

If you develop symptoms during your stay, your travel party must take all precautions to avoid contact with guests or staff, return home and all self-isolate for 14 days.

Whilst at the current time we remain open, you will notice some changes when you arrive:

  • The caravan site will be running at reduced occupancy, with more space to promote easier social distancing between pitches;
  • Meets, gatherings and socialising in groups outside your travel party are not permitted;
  • All on-site social and communal areas will be closed;
  • We request that no visitors come to the site;
  • All facilities blocks will closed, this includes toilets.

These measures will be in place until at least the end of May or until further government guidance is issued.

Current Bookings

We have a huge duty of care, both to our guests and site team. We understand that these changes will mean that some of you will no longer be able to stay on our sites.

If you have any queries please email us.

Future bookings

We will no longer be accepting any future bookings.

Staying safe with us

If you decide to camp with us it’s vital that you take the same precautions on your pitch that you would at home and follow government advice on handwashing and hygiene.

The NHS website is the best source of information about coronavirus and what you can do to prevent its spread.

Thank you for your understanding and we will update you with further changes. If you have any queries please email us.

Kind regards
Team @ Golden Grove

We have stayed at this quiet and lovely site twice this year and have had perfect breaks.

Cannot say enough about the friendliness of the owner and the care that is taken to provide a nice site with good and clean facilities.

We will certainly be going back again.

Golden Grove is a lovely site, small and friendly. Louise makes you very welcome, giving you plenty of information about what to do locally, where to eat, where to walk.

The pitches are spacious and overlook a field of Jacob sheep. It's very peaceful.

There are picnic tables around the site and even a barbecue. I spent one sunny afternoon sketching and painting whilst sitting at one of the tables. I was joined by another camper - and Louise when she saw us came over to admire our artwork. It really felt as if we were holidaying with family.

Excellent site - and we'll be back.

Just arrived back from a lovely bank holiday weekend at Golden Grove.

Facilities are basic but always clean only toilet on site no showers but not a problem for a weekend stay.

Separate sink inside for washing up in room next to toilet and things to buy in case you have forgot anything like tent pegs and local maps of the area.

Fresh water facilities along with waste facilities and bin area all good and well maintained.

We were the only people with a tent along with a full site of camper vans/caravans, so we had the whole grass pitch just for us.

This was our first camping trip close to home, it is adults only so was nice and quiet.

Like everyone else who reviewed this site, is a very nice small plot for 9 caravans only, so very friendly and good fun too. A lot of thought has gone into the facilities, books to borrow or buy, things you might have forgotten like tent pegs or dog food. Even a battery charger to lend! Immaculately kept both loo and washing up facility with easy chairs to sit in whilst perusing all the leaflets on offer.

Great field in front of the pitches with Jacob Sheep safely grazing behind a fence. Lots of birds and other wild life too. Great Saling fete on while we were there and we also had the joy of Picotts Lane being resurfaced at the one end we all entered but it all added to the fun!

We have stayed at Golden Grove on a number of occasions when working in the area. It is very handy for family that live locally.

All the pitches are hard standing and level. Lots of water points and hook ups. The site is lovely and quiet and very relaxed.

Louise is very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble.

Pitches are very generous, with lots of room for an awning and car parking. Lots of local walks for dogs. The site is very dog friendly.

We like the location but you will need transport/bike for shops and pubs etc. I would thoroughly recommend the site. If your pitching an awning, make sure you bring your rock pegs!

The one off pitch fee makes it very simple. Toilet kept spotless. Local information on site with a small washing machine but no dryer. Overall, great!

Had a lovely weekend here at Golden Grove, clean and well kept site.

Rare breed sheep were lovely to watch, grazing the large field within the site.

Nice wash up area with lots of extra touches.

Very clean toilet, recycling area all tidy with clear guidance where to put it all.

Had a walk to Andrewsfield Aerodrome had a drink and watched the small planes land and take off.

Site run well by Louise and sister both helpful, friendly.

Hope to fit in another weekend soon

"We spent 9 nights here. The pitches are huge and kept very tidy. The whole site is quiet and clean and well looked after.

The lovely lady who owns it was very welcoming and helpful.

The toilets were always clean and it was nice to know there was a washing machine on site if we needed it.

Had a brilliant time with the dogs as plenty of fields to walk over.

Was good value for money at £15 a night and no extra cost for the dogs or awning.

Will definitely stay again!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to make a reservation?

Yes. Reservations are a must. We are a small and popular site. We can not accept anyone who does not have a reservation.

Can I play music outside?

One of the reasons Golden Grove is so popular is because it is quiet and peaceful. We ask all guests to respect this and maintain that atmosphere.

Please do not play loud music, TV or radio at any time, especially during the summer months when windows are open.

Is Golden Grove dog-friendly?

Yes – it's a fantastic place for dogs.

We have plenty of space on site and several recommended walks in the surrounding areas for you to try.

It is essential however, that you keep your dog on a lead and under control at all times.

Please be mindful that the surrounding area is an important habitat for wildlife which your dog will disturb if left to roam freely.

Also, do not let your dog disturb other guests and refrain them from aggressive behaviour towards other guests and dogs.

Where can I put dog waste?

Please always clean up after your dog. There is a dog waste bin in the rubbish collection area of the site.

How much do you charge for dogs?

Dogs are welcome at no additional cost.

Are children allowed?

Sorry, the caravan site is for adults only, no children are permitted.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive after 12 noon and vacate your pitch by 12 noon unless previously arranged with the caravan park management.

Can I pitch anywhere?

Our pitches are large enough for bigger motorhomes and awnings. Please park and pitch within allocated pitch boundaries.

How much do you charge for awnings?

Our fee is a flat-rate. There is no additional charge for awnings. As long as everything is kept within the boundaries of your pitch.

How much do you charge for electricity?

Electricity is included in our per pitch fee.

Are there good places to walk?

The surrounding countryside hosts a network of public footpaths. You can find maps for these in the information hut in the caravan park, or you can download them from our 'Things To Do' section.

Can I explore the Saling Grove?

The surrounding gardens and parkland are strictly private and no entry is permitted.

Is the caravan park easy to access?

Yes. Access to the park is down a gravel track.

We do ask that you drive slowly on the access road to avoid the creation of potholes.

Also please drive slowly around the site, passed other guests, as gravel is noisy!

Are there washing facilities available?

There is an area for washing up, and a toilet. We do not have a shower at this point. Please keep these facilities clean and hygienic for other guests.

Do you recycle on the site?

Yes, there are appropriate bins for all recycling and we ask that you separate your rubbish and use these as instructed.

Can I have an open fire or barbeque?

Barbeques are permitted. But, open fires are not.

Especially in dry weather we ask that you do not light or maintain a fire.

Any cigarette butts must be firmly put out.

Fire extinguishers are available on site and if in danger please take the appropriate action to put out fire.

Are there laundry facilities?

We have a small washing machine which is available for £3 per load. We do not, however, have a dryer.

We do not permit hanging out of washing or drying clothes.

There are several launderettes available in Braintree.

Can I feed the animals?

We often have sheep grazing on site and we kindly request not to give the sheep any human food such as bread as it is bad for them. The occasional carrot or apple is welcome though.

Any food left outside is susceptible to attracting vermin, so if you want to leave some spare food for the birds, please use the bird feeders or ask the team on site.

If you have any other questions that are not covered here, please do not hesitate to contact Louise, here.
